Short Story about As Sulami

Imam Al-Qusyairi narrated, once As-Sulami asked Abu Ali Ad-Daqqaq, "Which is more perfect, dhikr or thinking?" Ad-Daqqaq answered by asking, "What is the Spiritual Opener, Sir Sheikh?" replied As-Sulami, "dhikr is more perfect for me, because Al-Haq is preached by dhikr, not by thought." Abu Ali Ad-Daqqaq agreed. As-Sulami also once said, "The root of Sufism is obedience to the Qur'an and sunnah, leaving lust and bid'ah matters, respecting holy people, and istiqamah in dhikr."
