The Prophet's Messages That Made His Two Companions Sad
Historian from Egypt, Khalid Muhammad Khalid, had time to praise the Prophet's friend. this one. He wrote, “Didn't you notice the rays radiating around his eyebrows? And don't you smell the fragrance coming from him? That is the light of wisdom and the fragrance of faith. Indeed, faith and wisdom have met in this man who longs for God. An incomparably happy meeting.”
That is the description of Abu Darda ra. one of the main companions of Rasulullah saw. His full name is Uwaimir bin Zaid bin Qais. Rasulullah saw. praised him as a great horseman in the Uhud war. He is known as a wealthy merchant who is very obedient. A smart friend, his life is simple and wealthy. Abu Darda, is a well-known Medina merchant who is honest. Converted to Islam because of the value of honesty, many people prefer to trade with him than with other traders. As a trader he never cheated.
One day Abu Darda ra. visited by Umar bin Khattab r.a. when he was a judge in Damascus The situation in his house was pitch black. There were no lights illuminating the living room. Omar knocked on the door. "Assalamualaikum warahmatullahhi wabarakatuh," said Umar ra. The owner of the house replied while inviting him to enter the house, "Wa'alaikum salam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh O Amirul Mukminin." Umar entered slowly and fumbled around him, because it was very dark. He couldn't see his host, because the living room was very dark. The two then sat down.
Start an important conversation between the two companions of the Apostle. Out of curiosity, Umar then groped around his surroundings. Start feeling the cushion where Abu Darda is sitting. He touched his bed mattress. It turned out to be just a kasru filled with sand. Then the blanket which is only a thin cloth is enough to keep the body warm in winter.
“May Allah bestow His mercy, O Abu Darda. Would you like me to help you, would you like me to send you something to broaden your life?” Abu Darda was silent and then replied, "Remind, O Amirul Mukminin, a hadith that was conveyed by the Messenger of Allah. to us." Hearing this answer, Umar gasped and asked, "What Hadith is it?"
"A person's wealth in the world should be like a traveler's supplies (as much as they are)," said Abu Darda. Caliph Umar confirmed what his friend said. A moment later, Abu Darda said again, "Well, what have we done since his death, O Umar?" Finally, Amirul Mu'minin cried. Abu Darda also shed tears. Both cried until dawn.
Many stories about Abu Darda. This companion of the Ansar is known as a person full of wisdom and narrator of hadith. About his Islam, Abu Darda said, "I converted myself to the Prophet SAW when I wanted worship and business to be gathered in me. But it didn't work. Then I set aside business, so that I could worship Allah SWT more. In fact, I'm not too happy even though I make 300 dinars every day. God does not prohibit business, but I prefer to associate with people who in business do not neglect Allah SWT.
Abu Darda is known to live life as a wara Sufi. His life became a friend whose life of worship became an example for other companions of the Prophet. It's not wrong if Abdurahman bin Auf ra. said, "Abu Darda rejected the world with two palms and his chest."
