The Story of Noah's Disobedient Wife and Son
The Story of Noah's Disobedient Wife and Son
Many have questioned Noah's behavior when he built a large ark far from the seas and rivers. Noah was considered a madman by his people. The doubts pinned on Noah are actually part of their disbelief in the message that Noah has brought.
When Noah's Ark was finished, Noah was ordered to enter all his believing people along with the animals in pairs.
Clouds began to cover the land of Noah. There is no light gap at all. The day was like night because it was covered by thick clouds. Rain and floods can strike at any time, just waiting for orders from the Almighty, Allah SWT.
When it started to rain, Noah made sure that all of his entourage actually got into the Ark, including his entire family. After all, family is a part of everyone's life. Family is something that must be prioritized.
Likewise with Noah. The treatise he brought invited all his people to believe in him and enter the Ark that he had built alone, including his family.
While in the ranks of his people who began to enter the Ark, Noah still saw no sign of the participation of his wife and children.
Noah began to search for the parts of his family that were left behind. When he met his wife, the wife flatly refused his invitation. The wife even doubted the validity of the treatise she brought. He trusted the leaders of his people who from the beginning rejected the da'wah of her husband, Noah.
Noah was very sad, because he was unable to invite the wife he loved to believe in Allah and the message he brought. He slumped down. He still hopes that his wife will change her mind and will accept his invitation.
Unfortunately, that was an empty hope for Noah. His wife remains disobedient. As he passed, he did not want to look back at all. The choice is complete. Following the elders of his people whom he respects more than his respect for her husband and the pamphlets that her husband brought.
Noah tried to forgive his wife. After failing to invite his wife, Noah tries to find the whereabouts of his son. His son, Kan'an, was also still not seen in the crowd of his people.
Meanwhile it started to rain. The dark clouds that enveloped Noah's people had begun to turn into rain that was ready to destroy his people.
Noah saw his son in the distance. Kan'an was pedaling a rope up the mountain. He believed that the promised doom would never reach him if he ran to the mountains.
The water is getting higher, chasing a Kan'an who arrogantly refuses his father's invitation and prefers his own way, climbing a high mountain. Meanwhile the flood is getting higher. The flood began to drown everything in its path. Even the mountain that Kan'an climbed was starting to sink.
Noah, who felt sorry for his son, began to direct his ark to the mountain where the son was standing.
"O my son, take my hand, climb into the ark with your safe people!"
"Leave me, I will seek refuge in a mountain that can save me from the flood!"
"O my son, today no one can provide salvation except salvation from Allah SWT."
The father's invitation was immediately rejected by the child. He didn't care about his safety at all. He had become part of Noah's pagan clan.
Noah saw his son sink and perish before his eyes. He was so sad to see his family perish because of his disbelief.
Instantly God gave an answer to his anxiety.
"O Noah, they are not actually your family. Your true family is the one who believes in the message and has faith in you. On the other hand, those who deny you and deny the words of your Lord, they have left your family ties."
