The story of the expanse of the Nile is just afraid of Umar bin Khaththab Alaihissalam
If there is a leader who is just, firm and fully works for the sake of the people, is simple, popular, likes blusukan and is anti-corruption, Umar bin Khaththab is one of the icons. He is the second person to replace Rasulullah saw. after Abu Bakr ash-Shiddiq, he is also the second best human being to replace the Prophet. Behind his firmness and courage, he is a humble person, often crying at night and during the day. When asked why he was crying, he replied: "I was entrusted with an affair that if I can do justice, I will be punished, if I do wrong, I will be tortured, if I sleep during the day, I waste people's affairs, if I sleep at night, I waste myself." Often he would visit his people, check and monitor their condition, and ask them how their governor was doing. If it was found that a subordinate governor did not visit his sick people, or did not intervene to take care of the weak, Umar did not hesitate to remove him. He himself often checks directly on the disabled, the blind, the paralyzed, the elderly, small children, at night. He himself brought them water, firewood and other necessities. For widowed women, Umar's friends sent his maids to entertain and help meet their needs. We also find a gentle personality in the figure of Umar bin Khathab when interacting with small children. One time, a staff entered his room. He found Amirul Mukminin lying down, while on his stomach perched small children playing around. The staff showed an attitude of distaste for that matter. Then Umar asked, "How would you be if you were with your family?" The staff replied, "If I enter them, those who talk become silent." Umar replied, "Get away from us, actually you are, if you are not gentle to your family and children, how can you be gentle to the people of Prophet Muhammad shallallahu alaihi wasallam?" Thus, Sayyidina Umar really cared about his people. Until not infrequently, karamah appears from himself. One of them is the story of the Nile. Once upon a time during the caliphate, Umar bin Khathab radliyallahu anhu, the governor of Egypt who was held by Amr bin Ash radliyallahu anhu sent a letter to the emirul mukminin. He confides about the shrinking water level in the Nile, which has created problems for his people. Somehow at first, the Nile River only "wanted" to flow abundant water if a special offering was thrown for it. The problem is, the special offering is very, very special, namely a high-ranking virgin. If the Egyptians had thrown a girl into the Nile as an offering, then the long river would "will" to flow abundant water. Responding to the concerns of his subordinates, Caliph Umar bin Khathab then wrote a letter whose translation was more or less as follows: "From the Servant of God, Umar, the leader of the believers, to the Nile River in Egypt.. But they: If you flow with your own initiative, then it doesn't matter if you don't flow. But if the Almighty One is the one who flows you, then I pray to the Almighty God, so that He flows you" Caliph Umar then ordered to throw the letter into the Nile in exchange for a virgin offering. Governor Amr bin Ash then threw his superior's letter into the Nile River. Then it's amazing! The Nile overflowed again. After that, virgin women were never thrown as an offering to the Nile River.
